PCI-SIG consortium has just completed the PCI Express 6.0 . It is currently at version 0.7. Test chips have validated the electrical specifications. Therefore, there will be no further changes, and only the final specifications remain to be completed in 2021.
There will be version 0.9, known as the "final draft," during which members of the PCI-SIG consortium will conduct tests to adapt the new technology to their patents and intellectual property. Finally, version 1.0 marks the presentation of the technology to the general public.

What changes with PCI Express 6.0?
PCI Express 6.0 is twice as fast as PCI Express 5.0. Its speed is 64 Giga Transfers per second per pin, compared to 32 GT/s for the previous generation. It's worth noting that the throughput of PCIe cards doubles every year. To increase bandwidth, PCI Express version 6.0 uses Pulse Width Modulation ( PAM) . This technique involves modulating the pulse width in four levels. This technique is used, among other things, in the GDDR6X memory of the new generation Nvidia GeForce 3000 series graphics cards. PCI Express 6.0 also uses a new low-latency error correction (FEC) technique to optimize bandwidth.
PCIe 5.0 will become widespread around 2021-2022. The new PCIe 6.0 version will therefore be widely used by various manufacturers around 2023-2024.
