EK Water Blocks has just announced that the EK-Quantum Vector FE RTX 3080 D-RGB water block is available for pre-order. It sports a silver and black gamming look. This air-liquid cooling system is dedicated for Nvidia's RTX 3080 Founders graphics card.
The characteristics of the EK-Quantum Vector water block
The EK-Quantum Vector water block comes in a compact design with a slot covered in plexiglass lit by an RGB LED system . This lighting system consists of 20 LEDs that can be controlled with the usual RGB lighting management software. The upper part is made of acrylic while the lower part is made of 12mm pure electrolytic copper coated with nickel. The external block is made of 20 mm aluminum. It is accompanied by a spacer system for the proper fixation of the whole.
It has 2 1/4 inch threaded connections and can be used on both sides of the terminal. The cooling system has been designed to ensure cooling of the GPU, memories and the voltage regulation module (VRM). The coolant in fact passes through these critical elements to ensure good cooling of the whole. The EK-Quantum Vector water block is more efficient than its previous versions because it has a larger heat dissipation surface 30% more compared to other Vector water blocks.
What sets this water block apart is that it will work smoothly with a low hydraulic flow water pump. Reservations for the EK-Quantum Vector water block are open on the manufacturer's website for €270 . EK Water Blocks will make the first deliveries in December 2020.
What are the benefits provided by a water block?
Like any air-liquid cooling system, the water block system allows efficient cooling . Unlike a cooler system (fan + radiator), watercooling allows better heat dissipation. This is because water or any liquid has a better thermal absorption capacity than air.
Another advantage comes from the fact that the water block system is less noisy than the classic cooler system. This system does not in fact require strong enough ventilation. Although most watercooling uses fans, they do not need to run at a high frequency to ensure liquid cooling.
The waterblock system allows overclocking . Indeed, an air-liquid cooling system allows the CPU or GPU to work more quickly since they are not overheating.
