AMD is working on a card that can mine cryptocurrencies

AMD is working on a Navi 10 GPU for blockchain . This information was gathered from patches released by Phoronix for the Linux kernel. The solution is called the Navi 10 blockchain SKU.

Currently, several AMD graphics card models are available for mining , but AMD has more than one trick up its sleeve. In fact, the company is about to unveil a new graphics card: the Radeon RX 6000, also known as Navi 21, on October 28th.

This is a range of GPUs based on the RDNA 2 . The Navi10 blockchain SKU, however, is a new model designed specifically for the blockchain sector. It can be used to validate various cryptocurrency transactions. The Navi 10 models currently used for the Radeon RX 5700/5600 series will therefore find a new purpose.

Features of the Navi 10

The Navi 10 GPU is manufactured using a 7-nanometer process and contains 10.3 billion transistors. It is based on the RDNA 1 architecture and features 2560 shader processors 8 GB of GDDR6 memory with a 256-bit memory bus.

According to the fixes implemented for this new SKU, the card does not have an active video output because both the Display Core Next (DCN) and Video Core Next (VCN) components are disabled. This new blockchain-dedicated card will be released in the first half of 2021.
