Makalu 67, the new gaming mouse from Mountain

Mountain is a young company based in Germany. Its main activities consist of producing gaming peripherals ideal for competitions such as the Mountain Everest keyboard. Makalu 67 is a gaming mouse distributed by Mountain. It’s a custom, high-performance mouse. The mouse is both light and durable. Its design is quite particular with different slots and various customization possibilities. It is patented by the German Company.

What makes the Makalu 67 mouse different?

The design of the Makalu 67 mouse has been well thought out by Mountain to adapt to the real needs of gamers. After a few minutes of use, you will feel like you are one with the mouse. The mouse is very light, only 67 g . The wired connectivity is made of a flexible material allowing easy handling as if it were a wireless mouse.

The mouse has a PixArt PAW3370 sensor. Which allows it to reach a sensitivity level of 19,000 DPI . It uses Omron 50m switches which are known to be tough and durable. No need to press the buttons very hard. In fact, a light pressure is enough to activate the buttons and the scroll wheel. Additionally, sensitivity can be adjusted via a central button on the mouse. 5 sensitivity levels are available for this purpose: 400, 800, 1200, 2000 and 19000 DPI. The sliding frame is made of PTFE, which allows ideal movement on any type of surface.

Advanced mouse features with Base Camp

The mouse can work directly without an additional driver. However, installing software such as Base Camp allows you to have more features. This software allows you to have more options compared to other mouse and keyboard management software such as Angle Snapping or Logiteg G Hub. Although Base Camp does not allow viewing user telemetry data in real time, it has more features than other software.

From Base Camp you can customize the RGB lights. There are predefined settings that you can directly use such as Color Wave, Breathing, Static. But you can also create your own settings according to your preferences. You will have the choice between the 16.7 million colors offered . This software also allows you to assign the 6 buttons to specific functions: opening a browser, handling macros, opening specific software, combining keyboard touches, etc.

At Base Camp level, you can use the advanced settings in the “Parameters” tab. You can change the sensitivity level but also the cursor scrolling speed. Double-click speed can be customized. You can also use a nice mouse feature called Angle Snapping.

The latter allows you to create perfect geometric figures (straight line, circle, etc.). Indeed, the mouse can either transmit all hand movements with high sensitivity, or ignore small variations in order to draw perfect geometric objects. Other settings can also be adjusted such as button press transmission latency, transmission frequency, lifting distance and many others.
