A doorbell is the most reliable way to alert the homeowner of a visitor's presence at the entrance to their property. In the past, wired doorbells were used, and their installation required a lot of work to connect the wires. Nowadays, wired doorbells are increasingly being replaced by wireless doorbells, which offer many more advantages and greater ease of use.

Replacing a wired doorbell with a wireless one?
Replacing a wired doorbell with a wireless one is not complicated at all; simply remove the wired doorbell and attach the wireless one in its place. Installation is quick and requires no electrical work, as it does not contain any wires, as its name indicates.
How do I remove a wired doorbell?
- First, disconnect the electrical current connected to the doorbell
- Remove the bell by first removing the cover panel by putting it out of the frame, unscrew the frame from the wall and pull the wires from the connectors.
- The wires must be kept separate from the ground (positive from negative) and these wires must be well covered with electrical tape to prevent any fire.
- Remove the doorbell button from the outside by unscrewing the screws that attached it to the wall. Pull the wires from the button, remembering to wrap electrical tape around the ends of each wire. Push these wires into the wall.
Fill the screw holes with filler putty.
How to install a wireless doorbell?
Install a battery-powered wireless doorbell
Very simple and quick operation:
- Power the doorbell and push button with batteries
- Choose the location for the doorbell, then stick it firmly to the wall. If it's a screw-mounted model, you'll need to drill into the wall, insert the wall plugs, and screw it in securely.
- Choose the correct location for the push button so that it can be heard throughout the entire dwelling, avoiding obstacles that could weaken its signal. Screw it onto the wall after drilling the hole.
There is no need to connect the two components since they use batteries.
Install a plug-in wireless doorbell
It's a doorbell whose push button uses a battery, while the doorbell itself plugs directly into the electrical outlet.
The operation is therefore also very easy:
- Power the push button with a battery and choose the correct location to glue or screw it in depending on the model.
- Also attach the doorbell by gluing or screwing it in place and plug it directly into an electrical outlet. The melody is triggered wirelessly from the push button.
Installing a battery-free wireless doorbell
This is certainly the simplest operation: it requires no battery for either the push button or the doorbell. All you need to do is choose the right spot to glue or screw each component and plug them into an electrical outlet to ensure the device works properly.
Don't forget to check for each model that the ringer can be heard clearly in all rooms of the house.
