In the coming days, Intel and AMD are expected to launch their latest server processors. Experts predict the launches will be simultaneous, suggesting a truly extraordinary event. We invite you to discover this significant development right now!
A possible price increase for SSDs is on the horizon

According to recent analyses by Taiwanese research firm TrendForce, a specialist in memory technology, the price of enterprise SSDs could increase. This price hike for NVMe PCI 4.0 and 5.0 drives is expected to reach a rate of 15% in the coming months.
All of this will take place just after the latest server processors from Intel and AMD are actually launched. The astonishing thing about this story is that the launch will happen simultaneously.
Of course, it's very rare to see two processors released simultaneously. Intel will be delivering the Ice Lake generation of all its Xeon processors . AMD, meanwhile, will be launching its Epyc 7003 Milan chips . Therefore, the price increase for SSDs is quite justified.
Moreover, we could see the release of several server models during the quarter by brands such as HPE, Dell Technology or Lenovo.
The quality of the interfaces could boost future sales

However, the Taiwanese research firm anticipates a decrease in server demand towards the end of the year. It should be noted that even enterprise SSDs will not be spared.
However, if we take a step back, we see that server price increases are generally spread over several months. It is precisely for this reason that we believe the sales bubble will burst during the fourth quarter of the year.
Furthermore, TrendForce claims that by 2022, Intel and AMD will launch processors capable of supporting a wide range of important features. CI Express 5.0 and the CXL (Computer Express Link) interface were specifically mentioned.
These high-speed interconnections simplify the instantaneous movement of data. Indeed, due to the immense size of the data, the bottleneck occurs at the data movement stage , not at the processing stage.
Intel and AMD: which of the two brands will prevail?

Just a few weeks ago, Intel unveiled its new generation of single-core server processors. These were, of course, the Xeon Ice Lake processors, built on a 10nm process. The previous generation used a 14nm process.
AMD, for its part, had launched the Epyc series, which until then had offered significant price reductions on its various servers. You could thus benefit from servers that were 30% cheaper than Intel's, and, more importantly, with similar specifications.
Intel dominated the server market for over a decade. However, the arrival of AMD has eroded its market share. While Intel is leveraging its established reputation, AMD will focus on the performance and price-to-performance ratio of its processors.
Which of the two brands do you think will come out on top after the launch of their latest server processors? Let us know in the comments!
