Hardware maker MSI this week announced two new PCIe 5.0 SSDs, the Spatium M570 Pro and Spatium M570, which are the first PCIe 5.0 drives that can be purchased as finished products. These SSDs use Phison's E26 controller and are available in 1, 2, and 4 TB capacities with or without heat sinks.
The characteristics of the M570 Pro and M570 drives
The Spatium M570 Pro uses Micron's new 232-layer NAND flash memory, enabling it to achieve sequential read and write speeds of 12,000 and 10,000 MB/s respectively. The non-pro Spatium M570, on the other hand, uses slower TLC memory which only allows it to reach 10,000 MB/s reads.
Performance and availability
During MSI's CES demo, we were able to see preliminary benchmark results for the Spatium M570 Pro, which showed that this drive delivers significantly better performance than today's best SSDs, like the Samsung 990 Pro, which is rated at 7,450 MB/s read and 6,900 MB/s write. MSI will launch both drives in the second quarter of this year at undisclosed prices and the M570 Pro will also be available as an option on the Raider GE78 HX and Titan GT77 HX laptops.
