In France, one in three smartphones is a Samsung! Created in 1938, the Samsung brand was initially a trademark with local grocery, sugar and wool stores. Far from smartphones! But today, it is one of the world leaders in the electronics and digital market.

Indeed, its smartphones and televisions have impressive sales results. Are you a Samsung user looking to connect your phone to your TV? This article is made for you !

Share your phone screen on TV!

Connecting your smartphone to your television amounts to a kind of sharing of the screen of your phone on your TV: this is what we call screen mirroring . In French screen mirroring . This allows you to share content on the big screen: photos, videos, films, series and even video games.

Enough to spend great evenings with family, and Sundays with friends. The first thing to know if you want to screen mirror your phone on your Samsung TV is if your TV is a smart TV. We call “smart television” a connected television or Smart TV.

This means that it is able to connect to your wifi. These televisions were marketed after 2011. Once you have this information, four scenarios arise:

Good to know: If you want to do screen mirroring with your iPhone to your TV, we invite you to read our article: How to use Miracast on iPhone?

1. You have a Samsung smart TV manufactured before 2016.

To connect your phone to your Samsung TV, you will then have to use SmartView . SmartView is a Samsung application that allows you to see the multimedia content of your smartphone (photos, videos, downloaded music albums) on your television screen.

The latter is then controlled by the telephone. Goodbye old remote control! For SmartView to work, your phone and your television must be connected to the same wifi network. You then activate the SmartView app from your phone. If you haven't installed it yet, it's available on Samsung Galaxy Apps (and Google Play or the App Store).

Once the application is launched, you will be asked to exchange a pin code between your television and your phone to ensure the security of the pairing. Once connected to your smartphone, your TV displays your smartphone in the external device manager.

Please note that for greater speed, once the application is installed on your phone, Smartview is accessible directly from the quick commands pane of your smartphone, in the same way as activating Bluetooth or Wifi.

Once SmartView is activated, several features are available to you: you can project your photos and your own videos directly from the gallery; you can also use the Cast application to watch films and series on your TV; and even create playlists.

2. You have a Samsung smart TV manufactured after 2016 and before 2020.

If your television is from after 2016 but before 2020, you will then be able to connect your phone to your TV using SmartThings .

SmartThings is the new generation Samsung application that allows you to use screen mirroring . But even more, this application allows you to control all the connected objects in the house, on site or remotely, which SmartView did not allow.

The objects are connected to each other by the application itself and not by the wifi network. Unlike SmartView, your phone can remain connected to 4G while your television is on WiFi and your mirroring will work without problem.

To do this, you must first configure your SmartThings space in the application on your phone by connecting to your Samsung account.

If the SmartView app is not already installed by default on your smartphone, it is available on Samsung Galaxy Apps (and Google Play or the App Store). Once connected to your Samsung account, select your television which is automatically detected. As soon as screen mirroring is set up, you can share your entire phone on your television, and use your smartphone as a remote control.

3. You have a Samsung smart TV manufactured after 2020.

This scenario is by far the simplest! Simply touch your TV with your smartphone to activate screen mirroring. The latter then falls into place as if by magic!

4. Your TV is from before 2011.

If your television is not connected, and therefore it is not a Smart TV or an intelligent television, you still have the solution of boxes to connect via HDMI or USB to your TV. These plug-in boxes are streaming devices.

The Samsung Allshare Cast Dongle fulfills this mission perfectly: once the box is connected via HDMI to your screen, select Allshare Cast in the settings/other settings of your Samsung smartphone. Once your phone is paired with the Samsung Allshare Cast Dongle, screen mirroring is effective.

If your phone is not a Samsung brand, you can opt for the Google Chromecast . Its 2020 version, the Google Chromecast with Google TV, offers, in addition to the box to plug in via USB, a remote control. Once the dongle (box) is plugged in, download Google Home to your smartphone.

The Chromecast will be automatically detected after connecting to Wifi and your Google account. Its advantage: it offers maximum content with Google TV. Finally, the Fire TV Stick is the streaming box offered by Amazon. The 2021 version of the Fire TV Stick offers ultra-fast streaming in full HD.

Its principle is simple: once the box is plugged into the USB port of your television, you use the remote control or your voice to control your television. Thanks to Alexa voice control, you can ask to share content from your phone on your big screen, but also ask to search for content on the internet, all just by talking to it.
