The Swiss company Logitech is renowned for providing very good quality peripherals. In this article, we will test and give our opinion on one of the best wireless gaming mice : Logitech G603 Lightspeed . The G603 is available on the web and in particular on Amazon for the price of €34.29. With this very aggressive price, what about the performance?
Introducing the Logitech G603 Lightspeed Mouse
Let's start our test with the usual unboxing. In the package we have the mouse, the 2 LR6 AA batteries, the lightspeed receiver, an extension cable for the receiver, a user manual and warranty and certifications notes. The Logitech G603 Lightspeed mouse measures 43 x 68 x 124 millimeters and weighs 90 grams. It is a Logitech optical wireless mouse in black and gray with a silver Logitech logo positioned on the top. It is equipped with Lightspeed technology , a stable and fast technology developed by Logitech. You can connect it to your computer via Lightspeed connectivity or from the Bluetooth . This mouse is compatible on different platforms such as windows , MacOs, Android etc. G403 Prodigy Wireless and G703 mice , but it has 2 batteries and not a battery. The G603 is therefore cheaper and more accessible. At first glance, we have no complaints about the finish of the G603. She is well cared for on all lines.
The mouse has 6 programmable buttons. A button above the dial allows you to change the sensitivity on the fly. You can directly choose from the 5 sensitivity levels here. If you want to program macros and want to save them, you can make the settings in the Assisant software for video games from Logitech . This mouse does not have backlighting, but instead incorporates a Gamer HERO sensor, known for its performance reaching 10 times more precision.
In terms of clicks, the buttons offer clear, burr-free clicks. The quality of the Omron D2FC-F-7N used no longer needs to be proven. Logitech promised over 20 million on each button. The wheel allows easy scrolling. However, it does not have a fast scrolling mode with disengagement or horizontal scrolling. If you want a mouse with a fast scrolling system that automatically releases, you can opt for the Logitech MX Master 3 Advanced mouse. The latter is in fact equipped with Smartshift, a system which allows you to detect if you want to switch to rapid scrolling. In this scenario, you can have scrolling at more than 1000 lines per second. Very useful if you are handling multi-page documents or a spreadsheet with thousands of lines. The G603 Lightspeed mouse nevertheless offers good performance and has a 32-bit ARM microprocessor. It comes with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty.
Advanced configurations of the Logitech G603 Lightspeed mouse
Lightspeed technology was implemented by the Swiss company Logitech to eliminate all the problems of wireless connectivity. The lightspeed connection is therefore as stable as a wired connection. Everything has been studied by Logitech engineers, going through all the electrical circuits, the antenna and the firmware. Nothing has been left to chance in order to eliminate any latency.
Gamer HERO sensor allows precision without smoothing, acceleration or filtering from 200 to 12,000 DPI . It provides 10 times more performance than previous generation mouse sensors (PMW3366). Hero technology thus becomes the new standard in detection technology, as it provides a revolutionary performance-to-power ratio in the world of wireless technology. power supply management system which adjusts the image refresh in relation to mouse movements. Electricity consumption is thus well managed. The Hero sensor remains precise and responsive even to images running at over 400 FPS.
The Logitech G603 mouse allows advanced management of the power supply depending on the use of the mouse. Below the mouse, you can find a switch to toggle the power supply mode from Lo to Hi. With Hi mode, the G603 mouse delivers a 1ms report rate with over 500 hours of battery life. It should be noted that the G603 offers twice as much battery life as previous generation mice. With Hi mode, the mouse prioritizes performance. This mode is recommended during gaming sessions. When you're not playing anymore, you can switch the mode to Lo for more battery life. With Lo mode, the report rate is 8ms with 18 months of battery life. Lo mode corresponds to office use with a refresh rate of 125 Hz.
To replace the LR6 AA batteries, simply raise the central cover under which the 2 batteries are housed. The clip is magnetic and therefore easy to undo. We had concerns about the mounting stability of this magnetically attached cover, but after hours of testing, we encountered no problems.
Gaming Assistant software , you can customize buttons and assign macros. You can also modify the settings saved in the mouse's internal memory. The software is very intuitive and easy to use. With the latter, we can therefore associate actions with additional mouse buttons. This offers an undeniable advantage during gaming sessions, because we can configure our essential movements within reach of a single click: building, crouching, rushing into the pile, healing wounds, etc. This software also gives you a heat map, showing you which buttons you will use the most.
On the design side, with its curved shape, the mouse fits perfectly in the palm of the hand. We slightly regret the absence of non-slip materials on the side. The hand tends to slip a bit on the G603, especially when we want to lift the mouse. This doesn't bother you too much, but if you want a mouse with better grip, you can opt for the Logitech G403 or the G703 . The G603 slides perfectly on its two long PTFE runners. The manufacturer presents a useful life of approximately 250 km.
The G603 Lightspeed mouse was presented by Logitech with the G613 keyboard which also offers good gaming performance. You can therefore use this keyboard or opt for others such as the Logitech G915 Gaming Tastatur or the Logitech G513 Carbon Lightsync with backlighting. If you want to experiment with using a vertical mouse, the Logitech MX Vertical Wireless will do the trick. Looking for a keyboard that directly integrates a mouse next to it? We recommend the Logitech K400 Plus keyboard .
