For a gamer, the graphics card is an essential element of the computer. The more powerful the graphics card, the smoother the 3D effects and animations will be.

Among the most popular graphics cards, there is the famous “ Intel HD Graphics 620 ”. It was released in 2016 , and yet many people continue to use and recommend it. However, it is not really a graphics card, but rather an integrated graphics processor! Let's see in more detail what are the main characteristics of the Intel HD Graphics 620.

Here are the best Intel processors of the moment!

Good Performance

Among the advantages of the Intel HD Graphics 620, we cite its good performance. Indeed, it consumes little energy , but produces good performance. Its frequency is 300 MHz for an energy consumption of barely 15 Watts. This is thanks to ULD technology which means Ultra Low Voltage.

The Intel HD Graphics 620 is also suitable for several uses: for video games, 3D graphics, video editing, etc.

Maximum graphics memory is 32 GB.

Great Compatibility

Another advantage is that the Intel HD Graphics 620 is compatible with many devices. You can plug it into a PCIe 3.0 x1 interface.

Whether desktop, laptop, tablet, the card fits easily. It also adapts to the PC, whatever the version of Windows installed.

HDMI and DVI Connectors

The Intel HD Graphics 620 has an HDMI connector and a DVI connector. With these 2 types of connectors, you can easily connect a projector, a computer screen or a TV screen. You will be surprised by the quality and fluidity of the images.

Intel states that this hardware supports 4K at 60 Hertz. This results in a maximum resolution of 4096 x 2304 pixels.

Lack of Manual and Noisy Operation

With the Intel HD Graphics 620, however, we deplore the absence of a user manual and its noisy operation. That said, given the good performance of the card in general, you should be able to get used to it, however.

As for documentation, you can find some technical information on the website of the Manufacturer, Intel, at the Support level. This is where you can download the most up-to-date card drivers, if necessary.

Some Detailed Features

What gives these particular characteristics to the Intel HD Graphics 620 is that it is in reality an integrated graphics processor . Depending on what you use it for, you will need either an integrated graphics processor, a dedicated graphics processor, or a real graphics card. We imagine, for example, that for very resource-intensive uses, it is necessary to have suitable equipment.

That said, we consider that the Intel HD Graphics 620 remains a very versatile graphics processor and therefore easily adapts to many uses.

It supports HEVC Main10 profile with 10-bit color depth. The HEVC (or H.265) codec succeeded the H.264/AVC codec. The latter easily managed videos in HD (720p) or Full HD (1080p) resolution. But, for Ultra HD (4K), it was necessary to develop a suitable codec. This is how the HEVC codec came about. It can display 4K streams very easily, but can go as far as displaying 8K videos. You should know that 8K has a resolution of 8192 x 4320 px.

The latest generation of Intel HD Graphics also supports the Google VP9 codec. The VP9 codec was developed to reduce video bitrate by 50% while maintaining the same image quality as VP8 (another Google video codec). It is an open codec which also has the mission of offering better compression than its competitor, the HEVC codec (H.265).

Coming back to the other characteristics, the maximum frequency of the Intel HD Graphics 620 is 1 GHz – 1.15 GHz.

As a reminder, there have been several generations of Intel Graphics 620 . At the time of writing this article, we are at the 9th generation (Gen9), installed on a Kaby Lake GPU architecture.

Conclusion

Thus, with the Intel HD Graphics 620, we find what makes Intel famous: high-performance hardware, with great compatibility with current computers.

However, if you want to use it with very resource-intensive games, it is better to opt for even more efficient hardware…
