Vivify has announced its first HDMI 2.1 cables supporting 48 Gbps bandwidth and can be used to connect 8K Ultra-HD TVs to the latest generation PCs and consoles.

    The HDMI 2.1 standard

An HDMI 2.1 cable supports video streams up to 10K with 120 FPS . It allows ULLM: Ultra Low Latency Mode, necessary to reduce input lag when we play. The maximum supported speed is 48 Gbps. It can support up to 32 audio channels for a max sampling of 1536 kHz. Like its 2.0 predecessor, it supports HDR 10/10+, Dolby Vision and 3D.

Vivify is not a well-known brand for TV cables. It mainly focuses on cables for gamers , but as HDMI 2.1 and 8K arrive in the gaming industry, Vivify remains in its preferred area.

When HDMI Forum announced the HDMI 2.1 specification 3 years ago, it revolutionized the functionality of the transport and allowed consumer electronics manufacturers to produce cables that supported some (not all) features of HDMI 2.1 such as refresh rate (VRR) used by FreeSync and G-Synch among others, fast media switching (QMS), fast frame transport (QFT) and eARC.

As a result, there are now HDMI 2.1 and Ultra High Speed HDMI 2.1 48G cables that offer varying levels of HDMI support.

A UHS HDMI certified at Vivify

The first 48G HDMI 2.1 cables were revealed in late 2018, but at the time HDMI Forum had no certification program or at least compliance testing to ensure interconnects at high data rates and properly support all fonctionnalities.

HDMI Forum launched its HDMI UHS cable certification program in January. Cable manufacturers such as Vivify are currently rolling out their UHS HDMI certified products.

Vivify has introduced two HDMI UHS cables: the copper Xenos W31 with a length of 2 m (6.5 feet) and the high-end Arquus W75 fiber optic cable with a length of 4.5 m (15 feet).
