Vivify has announced its first HDMI 2.1 cables supporting a bandwidth of 48 Gbps and which can be used to connect Ultra-HD 8K TVs to next-generation PCs and consoles.

    The HDMI 2.1 standard

An HDMI 2.1 cable supports video streams up to 10K at 120 FPS . It enables ULLM (Ultra Low Latency Mode), necessary to reduce input lag during gaming. The maximum supported bandwidth is 48 Gbps. It can handle up to 32 audio channels with a maximum sampling rate of 1536 kHz. Like its predecessor, HDMI 2.0, it supports HDR 10/10+, Dolby Vision, and 3D.

Vivify is not a brand known for TV cables. It focuses primarily on cables for gamers , but given that HDMI 2.1 and 8K are arriving in the gaming industry, Vivify remains in its preferred area.

When HDMI Forum announced the HDMI 2.1 specification 3 years ago, it revolutionized transport capabilities and enabled consumer electronics manufacturers to produce cables supporting some (but not all) HDMI 2.1 features such as Refresh Rate (VRR) used by FreeSync and G-Sync, QMS Fast Media Switching, QFT Fast Frame Transport, and eARC.

As a result, there are now HDMI 2.1 and Ultra High Speed HDMI 2.1 48G cables that offer different levels of HDMI support.

A UHS HDMI certified product from Vivify

The first 48G HDMI 2.1 cables were unveiled in late 2018, but at the time, HDMI Forum had no certification program or at least compliance tests to ensure interconnections at high speeds and properly support all features.

HDMI Forum launched its UHS HDMI cable certification program in January. Cable manufacturers such as Vivify are currently rolling out their UHS HDMI certified products.

Vivify introduced two UHS HDMI cables: the 2m (6.5ft) long copper Xenos W31 and the 4.5m (15ft) long premium Arquus W75 fiber optic cable.
