Toshiba has just unveiled a new series of MG08-D hard drives. These are high-performance drives designed for small and medium-sized businesses.
Features of the new generation MG08-D
3.5" 7200 RPM hard drive with a mean time between failures (MTBF) of 2 million hours. This makes it ideal for SMB servers. This new model offers higher performance and better value compared to the previous generation. The new MG08-D series is available in capacities of 4, 6, and 8 TB. Connectivity options include SATA3 , enabling a transfer rate of 6 Gbps , and SAS , which can handle data transfer speeds of up to 12 Gbps .

Uses and advantages of these MGO8-D disks
These drives can be used in local server storage systems, cloud storage, disk arrays, etc. When used in an existing RAID redundancy system, sector characteristics must be considered for optimal performance. For example, 4TB drives have 512n (512 actual bytes), 512e (512 emulated bytes), and 4Kn (4K actual) sectors. The 6TB and 8TB drives are available in 512e and 4Kn sectors.
This hard drive is characterized by its lower energy consumption. This is due to the new air-filling system implemented by Toshiba for its next-generation drives. The platter chamber is thus filled with air and then sealed. This drive will be released in the first quarter of 2021.
