After a prototype was unveiled in May 2019 and detailed specifications were revealed at CES 2020 in Las Vegas earlier this year, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold is finally available for pre-order. The device will cost $2,499!
Features of Lenovo's new laptop

This device runs Windows 10 Professional. It features a foldable screen with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels and OLED display technology. The screen has a 4:3 aspect ratio and can be folded in half to create two 9.6-inch screens. The device is powered by an 11th-generation Intel Core i5 Lakefield processor.
It features 8GB of 4267MHz LPDDR4X RAM and a 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD. 5G connectivity is optional, but Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 are included. Battery life is 11 hours on a single charge. This Lenovo laptop can be charged via a USB-C port with a 65W charger.
The Fold's accessories and its upgradeability
Although Lenovo hasn't announced a specific launch date, the pre-order page indicates that orders can be placed in 4 to 5 weeks. Additional accessories are also available for pre-order, such as the Lenovo Mod Pen for note-taking, the Mini Fold Bluetooth keyboard for laptop-style typing, and an easel stand for use in landscape or portrait mode.
Lenovo doesn't consider the X1 Fold an ordinary laptop. In a blog post, Jerry Paradise, Lenovo's Vice President of Business Development, described the device as a "chameleon of personal computing devices." However, we can say that the ThinkPad X1 Fold is a PC since it runs Windows 10 Professional. Lenovo apparently always intended to launch the device with Windows 10X. But given that Microsoft seems to have shifted its priorities regarding the Windows 10X launch, we don't know when that version will be released. Nevertheless, Lenovo has made every effort to ensure that Windows 10 Pro works on its foldable machines.
An alternative with a non-folding screen
Lenovo is also launching the ThinkPad X1 Nano , an ultra-thin laptop for those who don't really need a foldable screen. It weighs less than 1 kg and is 1.4 cm thick. It also runs on an 11th-generation Intel Core i7 processor and features 16 GB of LPDDR4X RAM.
This laptop can support up to 1TB of SSD storage. The X1 Nano can last 17 hours without being plugged in. It also features the latest network connectivity options, such as Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5. This machine is equipped with a fingerprint sensor and an infrared camera. It is 5G compatible for those who prefer the latest communication technology. This alternative will be available starting in the fourth quarter of 2020 for $1,599.
