The lightest mouse in the world: Cooler Master mm720

First impressions of the Cooler Master MM720 mouse

Cooler Master has just broken its new record with its new 49-gram MM720 gaming mouse ! And naturally dethrones its previous 53-gram MM710 gaming mouse model.

In recent years, gaming peripheral manufacturers have been on high alert, vying for the top spot to produce the lightest mouse in the world! Without a doubt, Cooler Master is once again the winner with its recently launched new model.

Why is it so important for Cooler Master to win this match?

The lightest mouse in the world

For a gamer, mouse weight is a crucial factor ! In games played with low sensitivity, very long mouse movements are necessary. If a gaming mouse is too heavy, it can cause inertia and hinder the player's momentum.

For this reason, manufacturers like Cooler Master are launching increasingly lighter mice onto the market.

Unfortunately, Cooler Master still hasn't introduced the ability for players to change the sensitivity directly on the MM720 mouse. It will have to be done via the software or configured manually by sacrificing one of the buttons.

One further minor drawback: the sensitivity of this 49-gram mouse can only be adjusted across 7 DPI levels (400, 800, 1200, 1600, 3200, 6400, and 16000 DPI). This is likely because Cooler Master aimed to minimize the weight of its new gaming mouse.

The world's lightest gaming mouse of 2020

Cooler Master has perfectly redesigned the inner workings of this mouse, because in addition to having integrated the new optical sensor we have already talked about, the gaming mouse is tuned for a smoother glide and better control by the player.

The manufacturer, for some reason, decided it was a good idea to coat the mouse – including the inside – with a water-repellent layer, and in fact, the MM720 is IP58 certified !

Cooler Master is offering early adopters a free adhesive overlay perfectly fitted to the mouse's shape, designed to improve grip by adding 0.75 mm to its thickness. This overlay will later be sold separately for $9.99.
