The American company EVGA based in the USA specializes in the manufacturing and marketing of different motherboards and graphics cards. In this article, we will test and give our opinion on its EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 Super , released for the first time on 2 July 2019. This card is available on the web for the price of approximately $779. The Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) is $399.

Introducing the EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 Super graphics card

The EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 Super card is a high-end card made with Turing architecture . It has 8 GB GDDR6 memory running at 14 GHz. The memory bus used is 256 bits with a bandwidth of 448 Gbps . It uses its PCIe 3.0 16x interface to connect to the motherboard. It measures 23 cm and consumes a TDP power of 175 Watts. power supply unit is therefore 600 Watts. The EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 Super card performs well. It is 60.40% of the most powerful card we have tested: the GeForce RTX 3090.

The GPU named Turing TU106 has 2176 CUDA cores . Its 10.8 billion transistors switch at 1.470 GHz in normal operation. In boost mode, the frequency reaches 1.650 GHz . The GPU was cast with a 12-nanometer manufacturing process. This card has a texturing speed of 224.4. The EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 Super card has 5 outputs including 1 DVI, 1 HDMI, 2 DisplayPort and 1 USB-C. Regarding APIs, this card supports, among others, DirectX 12 Ultimate, OpenGL 4.6, OpenCL 1.2, Vulkan 1.2, CUDA 7.5

The cooling system was carefully designed by EVGA. She implemented an efficient and quiet dual 10-blade fan system. Improvements have been made for over 58% cooling efficiency compared to the previous generation. The “E” logos placed on the blades provide added fluidity in terms of fan rotation. You can therefore immerse yourself in the gaming atmosphere without worrying about overheating or ventilation noise.

Advanced features of the EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 Super graphics card

The Turing architecture and the new RTX platform allow you to have performance up to 6 times that of the old generation. It provides, among other things, real-time Ray tracing technology and Artificial Intelligence for immersive and realistic gaming sessions.

Ray tracing is a real revolution in the gaming industry. It allows you to have a lighting effect similar to reality. A great leap forward has at least been made with this technology. Ray tracing is not new in itself, but advances in hardware now make it possible to use and implement it in gaming. This approach allows for a realistic, real-time graphic rendering that will take your breath away with previously unsuspected beauty. The effects of light, reflections and shadow on surfaces such as water, glass, windows, floor, walls have become quite realistic. Nvidia now uses RT cores to perform Ray tracing calculations on each gaming scene. This is now a hardware calculation and no longer software. Although these calculations are quite resource-intensive, the evolution of the hardware side and the engraving process has made it possible to have viable and effective solutions.

EVGA has provided you with complete software for your EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card. You can in fact have total control of your graphics card via the EVGA Precision X1 . It also allows you to overclock and manage the RGB lighting system. This software allows you to set fan rotation frequencies and create specific profiles. With this software, you can monitor the real-time power of your graphics card, view the essential parameters of your system, control the GPU and memory frequency as well as voltages. You can save up to 10 different profiles on your machine and use them on the fly. With EVGA Precision X1 Software, you can take in-game screenshots and more. This software requires at least windows 7 64 bit, windows 8 64 bit or windows 10 64 bit to install.

Comparing its scores on G3D Mark, the GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER, with its G3D Mark score, performs less well than the Radeon RX 5700 XT (G3D Mark score 16,743) and the GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER (G3D Mark score 18,089). However, it is ahead of the following cards: GeForce RTX 2060 (G3D Mark score 13999), GeForce GTX 1070 (G3D Mark score 13330), Radeon RX 580 (G3D Mark score 8767), Radeon RX 470 (G3D Mark score 7945), Radeon HD 7970 / R9 280X (G3D Mark score 5257), Radeon HD 7950 / R9 280 (G3D Mark score 4775), Radeon R9 270 / R7 370 (G3D Mark score 4269).

G3D 2

Tested on 3DMark, the GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER card obtains a score of 8793. It thus beats the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER Max-Q with its score of 8632 and the AMD Radeon RX 5700 with the score of 8416. It is on the other hand less efficient than the AMD Radeon VII (3DMark score 8864) and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 (3DMark score 9107).

3DMark 3

In short, the RTX 2060 card displays excellent performance, because it is 60.40% of the RTX 3090 card, the fastest on the market at the moment. Ray tracing technologies and DLSS super sampling allow for realistic and very immersive graphics. You can also customize all the features supported on this EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 Super card with the Precision X1 Software. It allows, among other things, overclocking, controlling fan frequency, and managing the RGB system. This card launched with an MSRP of $399. It is currently available online for around $779. You can find this card on Amazon for a generally more attractive price.
